Like many other American cities, Chicago struggles with affordable housing. The concept of replacing a traditional structure with one made of shipping containers results in a significant reduction of implementation costs and reduces the build time. With Chicagoʼs role as a US distribution center, containers are very accessible. An estimated 12 million rental and homeowner households in USA now spend more than 50% of their annual incomes on housing. Building from containers will be one of the ways to provide housing opportunities to all income levels.
